Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

CoinBob is built on a privacy-first architecture. We do not track user behavior, build user profiles, or persist your market data on your device between sessions. Market data and pre-computed signals flow from our backend to your browser for display only. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to operate the service.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how CoinBob ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you access or use the CoinBob platform, including our website, web application, mobile application, and all associated services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

The Platform supports optional user accounts. Free-tier features are accessible without registration. When you create an account, we collect:

(a) Account Information: Email address, display name, and authentication credentials. Passwords are hashed server-side and never stored in plaintext;

(b) Payment Information: When subscribing to paid tiers, payment processing is handled entirely by third-party processors (e.g., Stripe). CoinBob does not directly collect, store, or process payment card numbers, bank account details, or cryptocurrency wallet private keys;

(c) Communications: If you contact us for support, we retain your correspondence, including your email address and the content of your messages.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access the Platform, limited data may be collected automatically through our analytics provider:

(a) Analytics Data (Vercel Analytics): We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to understand general usage patterns. This may include: page views, referral sources, general geographic region (country-level), device type, browser type, and session duration. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies for tracking by default;

(b) Server Logs: Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) may automatically log standard request data including IP addresses, request timestamps, and user agent strings as part of routine server operations. We do not actively process or analyze these logs for user profiling purposes.

2.3 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The Platform uses two types of browser storage:

(•) sessionStorage: Authentication tokens (JWT access and refresh tokens) are stored here under the key coinbob-auth. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab;

(•) localStorage: User preferences and settings are stored here under coinbob_user_settings_v1. This includes:

(a) Favorite cryptocurrency assets;

(b) Market screening filter settings (RSI thresholds, technical indicator preferences);

(c) Selected timeframe preferences;

(d) Enabled/disabled trading strategies and their parameter configurations;

(e) Backtesting settings (initial balance, stop-loss, risk/reward parameters).

Preference data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to CoinBob servers. Authentication tokens in sessionStorage are automatically cleared when you close the browser tab. You have full control over both at all times through your browser settings.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

CoinBob explicitly does not collect, store, or process:

(a) Trading history or portfolio data;

(b) Exchange account balances or positions;

(c) Exchange API keys or credentials in plaintext;

(d) Real-time market data (all market data is fetched fresh on every page load and is never persisted);

(e) Financial account numbers, credit card details, or banking information;

(f) Social security numbers, government-issued identification, or biometric data;

(g) Precise geolocation data;

(h) Contacts, calendar data, or other personal device data.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:

(a) Service Operation: To provide, maintain, and improve the Platform's functionality;

(b) Analytics: To understand aggregated usage patterns and improve the user experience (via Vercel Analytics);

(c) Security: To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or security threats;

(d) Communication (Future): If account registration is implemented, we may use your email address to send transactional communications (e.g., password resets, subscription confirmations, material changes to Terms or Privacy Policy);

(e) Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.

We do not use your information for:

(a) Targeted advertising or ad personalization;

(b) Selling or renting personal data to third parties;

(c) Profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal effects;

(d) Building behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

The Platform integrates with the following third-party services. We do not share your personal data with these services; they are used exclusively for market data retrieval and analytics:

Vercel (Hosting & Analytics)

Purpose: Platform hosting and aggregated usage analytics

Data shared: Standard web analytics data (page views, device type, geographic region)

Binance API

Purpose: Real-time and historical cryptocurrency market data

Data shared: No user data transmitted. Public market data endpoints only

Alternative.me API

Purpose: Crypto Fear & Greed Index data

Future Payment Processors

When payment processing is implemented, transactions will be handled by third-party processors such as Stripe and/or cryptocurrency payment gateways. These processors will have their own privacy policies governing the handling of your payment information. CoinBob will not directly handle or store payment card or banking details.

Circumstances for Disclosure

We may disclose information about you if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

(a) Comply with a legal obligation, court order, or legal process;

(b) Protect and defend the rights or property of CoinBob;

(c) Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Platform;

(d) Protect the personal safety of Users or the public;

(e) Protect against legal liability.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

5.1 Cookies and Analytics Consent

The CoinBob application does not set or read custom cookies. Our analytics provider (Vercel Analytics) is designed to function without tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics is only loaded after you provide explicit consent via the cookie consent banner displayed on your first visit. You can manage your analytics preferences at any time using the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer, which will re-display the consent banner so you can update your choice. Third-party services accessed through the Platform may set their own cookies according to their respective policies.

5.2 localStorage

As described in Section 2.3, we use browser localStorage to save your preferences locally on your device. localStorage is not a cookie — it is not automatically sent with HTTP requests, cannot be read by other websites, and is entirely under your control. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

5.3 Do Not Track

We honor Do Not Track ("DNT") browser signals. As our analytics are already minimal and privacy-respecting, our data collection practices remain the same regardless of DNT settings.

6. Data Retention

(a) Locally Stored Data: Browser localStorage data persists until you clear your browser data. CoinBob has no ability to remotely access or delete this data;

(b) Analytics Data: Usage analytics are retained in accordance with Vercel's data retention policies;

(c) Server Logs: Standard server logs are retained by our hosting provider per their retention schedule and are not actively processed by CoinBob;

(d) Future Account Data: If and when user accounts are implemented, account data will be retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Upon account deletion, your data will be removed within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law;

(e) Market Data: In accordance with our Fresh-Only Policy, market data (prices, OHLCV, volume) is never persisted or cached beyond temporary in-memory caching during active sessions (maximum 5 minutes). This data is discarded when you leave the page.

7. Your Rights

7.1 Rights Under GDPR (European Economic Area Residents)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

(a) Right of Access: Request confirmation of whether we process your personal data, and if so, request a copy;

(b) Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data;

(c) Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements;

(d) Right to Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your personal data under certain circumstances;

(e) Right to Data Portability: Request your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format;

(f) Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data for certain purposes;

(g) Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time;

(h) Right to Lodge a Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.

7.2 Rights Under CCPA/CPRA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act:

(a) Right to Know: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected;

(b) Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected;

(c) Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Note: CoinBob does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;

(d) Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

7.3 Exercising Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us. We will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable law (generally 30 days for GDPR, 45 days for CCPA). We may request verification of your identity before processing your request.

Given CoinBob's privacy-first architecture, most user data exists only in your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage. Authentication tokens in sessionStorage clear automatically when you close the tab. Preference data in localStorage can be inspected and deleted through your browser settings without contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.

9. International Data Transfers

The Platform is hosted on Vercel's global infrastructure, which may process data in multiple countries. Market data is retrieved from third-party APIs (Binance, Alternative.me, CryptoCompare, Blockchain.com) whose servers are located in various jurisdictions.

For EEA residents, where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR requirements, including reliance on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other approved transfer mechanisms.

10. Security

CoinBob's privacy-first architecture minimizes security risk by design:

(a) Minimal-Surface Backend: Our backend handles authentication, user accounts, subscriptions, alert rules, and the pre-computation of public market signals. We do not store your trading activity, exchange credentials, or any behavioral profile of your interactions with the Platform;

(b) Client-Side Storage: User preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage, and authentication tokens in sessionStorage, both of which are isolated per origin and inaccessible to other websites;

(c) No Credential Storage: The Platform does not store exchange API keys, passwords, or financial credentials in plaintext;

(d) Server-Side Key Protection: Where API keys are required for third-party services, they are stored as server-side environment variables and never exposed to client-side code;

(e) Encrypted Connections: All connections to our backend use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed server-side and never stored in plaintext. Authentication tokens use short expiry windows and are refreshed automatically.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to implementing reasonable and appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. Material changes will be communicated through:

(a) A prominent notice on the Platform;

(b) Email notification to registered users (when account system is implemented);

(c) Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of the Platform after the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us via the email address listed on our website. For data protection inquiries specific to GDPR compliance, please direct your correspondence to our Data Protection Officer.
